Disability Claim Lawyers

At the Law Office of Faye Riva Cohen, we are committed to helping disabled people get the benefits they need. Representing clients in Philadelphia and the surrounding counties, we bring four decades of experience to cases involving both private and employer-sponsored benefits, including short- and long-term disability benefits, government retirement disability benefits, and benefits governed by ERISA. We help union members get disability benefits, either from their unions or their employers. We also handle Social Security Disability benefits. Whether you are just beginning the process or you have already filed a claim for benefits and been denied or cut off, our lawyers can help.

We regularly deal with private short and long term disability benefit providers. Applying for benefits can often be a complex and arduous matter. We will work with you and your physicians to provide you with the best possible chance of receiving benefits. If you have already been denied long or short term disability benefits, we will work with you and the benefit providers to assist you in receiving the benefits to which you are entitled.

Unlike other law firms, our lawyers are knowledgeable in all aspects of employment law. Therefore, we know how your claim for disability benefits will impact other employment matters, such as wrongful termination and unemployment compensation, and we can advise you to best protect all of your employment claims.

Social Security Disability Benefits

There are two types of Social Security Disability benefits: Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) and Supplemental Security Income (SSI). To be eligible for either of these benefits, you must have a qualifying physical or mental impairment that prevents you from working for at least a year. To get SSDI, you must have worked for a certain period and paid into the Social Security system. If you have not, you may still be able to get SSI.

The application process is relatively simple, and many people complete this step on their own. However, applications typically result in denials. If your claim for Social Security benefits has been denied, you are not alone. This is not the end of the process. As there are strict deadlines to file an appeal, you should contact our firm immediately.

If your claim has been denied, our disability claim attorneys can help. We will guide you through the Social Security Disability appeals process. Although this process is complex, we are strong advocates who understand how to properly prepare to argue your case in front of an administrative law judge at the Social Security Administration.

If the Social Security Administration claims that you have been overpaid, we can help you fight its claims and get the amount it says you owe eliminated or reduced if possible.

We encourage you to contact our Pennsylvania law firm as soon as possible to learn about your options. Call 215-563-7776 or email.
